Divorce papers were served to my husband today. The sheriff clark called me first thing this morning to collect my payment (£135 for a simplified divorce with no property and no kids) and told me the divorce timeline.
My (soon to be ex) husband gets served the papers, gets 3 weeks to contest them or sign them and return them to the Court. Then the sheriff signs them and then we are divorced.
When the clark called, I filled up with tears to the extent that at one point I could n't answer his question.I had known he was going to call so was initially surprised by my response. However, instead of pushing the tears away, I embraced them. I spoke with kindness to myself and just went with it.
Instead of saying sorry to the Clark (Phil) for crying, I thanked him for his kindness during the call and for making me laugh. Phil had spoken so warmly to me when I could n't answer him because of my tears. He also kept referring to the sheriff 'giving the nod' to the divorce papers which made me burst out laughing and ask if that was a legal term.
My waves of tears and laughter with Phil showed me how far I have come. That I easily accepted them both, co-existing together #feelingallthefuckingfeelings #newbeginnings #braveasfuck.
Oh Cath, it sounds like you are being such a good friend to yourself and never losing humour is crucial as it's def a fab tonic and can also be tossed in a gin too 😊😊😊😊
